Nifty Trees shares the journey of bonsai art. We provide the digital tokenization solution (NFT) of bonsai specimen for immersive experiences. Nifty Trees is the global community at the intersection of all things bonsai art and cryptographic technology. What a rad time and place to be in this space!
Representing the ancient art of bonsai into a future infused with technology. Nifty Trees bridges the past and brings the appreciation of living art into the metaverse x cyber-space x virtual reality sector. Creating collectible and unique Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) with the digital model of an In-Real-Life “IRL” bonsai, Nifty Trees was first to create a NFT of a living bonsai tree.

2021 in Review
Public unveil of Nifty Trees at the 7th US National Bonsai Exhibition. With the support of my bonsai teacher, Bjorn Bjorholm; I set up a Nifty Tree display in the vendor room of the weekend long bonsai convention in Rochester, New York. It was a great adventure which my family joined in on to drive cross-country from Texas to New York in a van, with a trailer and 4 children, our youngest just over 6 months old. Quite a trek… Sharing the concept in a public manner was exhilarating and rather informative. The general consensus of the public at that moment was… What is an NFT? A question we love to answer!
Nifty Trees built a Tezos based Marketplace and Minting Platform. We are creating NFTs on the Tezos Network using a modified version of an open source software project created by Tezos developers. Shout out to the Madfish Solutions team as their wallet solution, Temple, is fantastic; we love onboarding bonsai enthusiasts and people new to Tezos to Temple! We have written and deployed our own smart contract for the minter & marketplace, hosted the applications on servers, and are actively enhancing the experience. Expect to see many updates and additions to our web presence in 2022.
Nifty Trees: Origin Collection: From the National unveil, we have initially minted 9 Nifty Trees to be added to the Origin Collection. This NFT collection is the first IRL based collection representing various bonsai and their journey over time. Minted on Tezos, each NFT is an edition of 100 tokens numbered x/100; the price is fixed for the initial supply and then is determined by market demand: 1–33 for 1TZ, 34–66 for 2TZ, 67–100 for 3TZ. These NFTs are currently available from the Nifty Trees Marketplace and will gradually released for sale.
The Nifty Tree concept was founded by me, Brandon Baldauf (@niftytree_b), in March of 2021 at a critical moment in life…. story for another day. From those initial moments, I’ve progressively shared the concept with family, friends, teachers, bonsai professionals, bonsai societies, communities, the public, and now you. Through that exploration, a more robust idea exists with a purpose and a direction; eternal gratitude to those who shared many hours of wild conversation. We have formed a LLC and are in process of finalizing expanded ownership across multiple talented people from vastly different backgrounds. Nifty Trees has had an initial developed brand and a growing community. For me personally, it has been a time of deep self-exploration to determine what is Nifty Trees purpose and identity; what impacts and changes do we want to set forth in the world?
